Rock Star Ron Loses MS battle

Tributes poured in last night from showbiz pals of rock legend Ronnie Lane, who lost his battle against a crippling disease.

The guitarist, who, died aged 51, formed the Small Faces whose hits include Itchycoo Park and All or Nothing.

He later co-founded The Faces with Rod Stewart who stayed in close contact with him throughout his illness.


Ronnie spent most of his fortune on drugs and drink, but in 1977 'was diagnosed as having multiple sclerosis.

Last year Rolling Stone, Ronnie Wood 48, said it was "horrific" see his old friend's struggles. "Ronnie has a strong personality, although his body's quit on him."

Veteran DJ Jimmy Savile said: "Ronnie was one of the leaders in the sixties and his influence will stay with us."
