Mac's Bump in the Night A new album by Ian McLagan & the Bump Band is now available. Kenney follows George Harrison's lead on taxation Kenney Jones has recorded a anti-stealth taxation single with his new band. Mr Brown is a message to the Chancellor of the Exchequer attacking the government's rising taxation by stealth. the other members of the band are Robert Hart on vocals, Rick Wills in bass and Gary Grainger on guitar. (Added 20 November 2002) Steve Marriott Interview A 1976 interview with Steve Marriott is available on CD. (Added 19 November 2002) Steve Marriott Calendar A 2003 Steve Marriott calendar is available from Darlings of Wapping Wharf for £8 (+£2 P&P). Each order includes a copy of the rare 1997 Small Faces calendar and a free copy of Darlings of Wapping Wharf magazine. (Added 19 November 2002) Feed Your Mind A free CD with the December issue of Mojo magazine includes Here Comes The Nice. The song is ranked in fifth place in the 100 top drugs songs according to the magazine. Small Faces DVD EP A new release is a DVD EP. This contains four tracks from the German Beat Club programme. These are mimed performances. Also newly available is a DVD from Spain that contains all the Small Faces hits as well as additional features. Oh darling Issue 21 of Darlings of Wapping Wharf Launderette is now available from the usual address or via the magazine's new Web site. (Added 4 October 2002) Kenney's headache On 17 September, Kenney was featured in the Daily Mail's Nigel Dempster column said to be suffering from a headache. This relate to choosing a name for the band which will be releasing an album during the next few months. "The album is going to be dynamite and then we'll do a tour. The only problem is what to call ourselves. The best so far is Big Face - a play on Small Faces" - but I'm not still sure I like it," said Kenney. (Added 17 September 2002) Most Collectable Artist Record Collector's annual survey of the Most Collectable artists show the Small Faces' ranking falling (!) from 28 in 2001 to 43 in 2002. (Added 2 September 2002) Small Faces (Immediate) The first Immediate album is to be reissued at the end of September with a bonus disc of addition material including "unreleased" tracks. (Added 2 September 2002) It's All About the Children Kenney Jones is featured on a new single that will support his Small Faces Charitable Trust. It's All About the Children also includes Robert Hart, Gary Grainger, Rick Wills, Paul Young and Ronnie Wood. Available 8 July 2002. (Added 30 June 2002) Darlings of Wapping Wharf Launderette A new Web site for Darling of Wapping Wharf Launderette enables issues of the magazine to be purchased on-line. Also, the success of the magazine means that it is moving from twice a year to quarterly. (Added 24 June 2002) Lucky Seven A "new" CD from Ronnie Lane called Lucky Seven includes come alternative versions of his best-known songs including a Slim Chance version of All or Nothing as well as tracks recorded with Eric Clapson for an album that was never released. Launderette Issue 19 has come off the presses. The highlight is a new interview with Kenney Jones where he talks about being a Small Faces fan himself! Steve Marriott Memorial CD The CD is due for release on 22 April 2002. (Added 3 March 2002) Ian McLagan Book and CD Signing Mac will be at the London International Music Fair on 17th March 2002 from 1pm to 3pm. The fair takes place on 17th March and contains the biggest selection of vinyl, CDs and memorabilia on sale by traders from around the world. The venue is Congress Centre on Great Russell Street, off Tottenham Court Road, in the West end. Doors open 10am to 4pm. Admission just £3. Room for Ravers has two pairs of tickets for free admission to the fair. To enter, email the answer to the following question to martin@makingtime.co.uk: "What is the alternative title of Mac's Best of British album as used for the German release?" Entries are needed by 15 March 2002 so that the winners can be informed. (Added 2 March 2002) Rights Update The UK High Court has dismissed claims by Andrew Loog Oldham, founder director and shareholder of Immediate Records, that he is entitled to the rights and royalties from recordings made for the Immediate label. Apart from the Small Faces, this includes material by acts such as PP Arnold, Fleetwood Mac, Rod Stewart, Humble Pie and Amen Corner. Oldham's claim had been challenged by Charly Acquisitions, Charly Trademarks and Sanctuary Copyrights who have claimed they they own the rights. (Added 16 February 2002) Steve in
Guitar magazine The February 2002 issue of Guitar magazine has a lengthy feature on the Small Faces with a special emphasis on Steve Marriott's guitars and guitar playing technique. The feature was written by Uli Twelker whose book with Roland Schmitt, The Small Faces...and Other Stories, is due for imminent release. (Added 3 February 2002) Stanley Unwin Room for Ravers is sorry to announce the death of Stanley Unwin. He died peacefully on 12 January at Dantre Hospital in Daventry, Northants at the age of 90. Stanley is known to Small Faces fans because of his narration of Ogden's Nut Gone Flake in "Unwinese" and his appearance at a number of Small Faces Conventions. (Added 14 January 2002) |
