(Added 16 August 2004) Willie & the Poor Boys Due for release in early September is a DVD of the Willie & the Poor Boys concert from 1985 which featured a host of stars including Kenney Jones raising funds for research into multiple sclerosis. (Added 4 August 2004) Heroes Another compilation that mixes tracks from the 1960s to the present day is Heroes, a new release from Sony. This includes Lazy Sunday alongside The Jam, The Cult, Slade, Stereophonics, The Only Ones and many more.
Death Disco An unusual compilation is the latest venture from Alan McGee of Creation Records fame. The CD is a diverse range of tracks that are not normally packaged together. Spanning several decades the selection puts The Small Faces and the Damned together at last! Atomic compilations The Small Faces and Humble Pie are featured in new compilation albums from Atom Music. These appear to focus more on Immediate material and include, in the case of the Small Faces, the rare You, Me and Us Too. (Added 30 May 2004)

is the Modern World A new compilation charts the history of Mod from the 1960s to the late 1970s. (Added 23 May 2004) Marriott and Lane CDs The Steve Marriott compilation album All Too Beautiful is released on 15 June to tie-in with the release of the book. Also due towards the end of May is a limited edition boxed set from Steve Marriott, Ronnie Lane and Ronnie Wood entitled About Face. (Added 20 May 2004) Small Faces Convention 2004 The annual Small Faces Convention will take place at the Ruskin Arms on 12 September. More details when available. Music will be provided by Dan's People. (Added 26 April 2004) Mac in Texas Hall of Fame Mac has been inducted into the Texas Hall of Fame alongside Blind Lemon Jefferson, Leadbelly, and fellow Bump band mate, Gurf Morlix. (Added 19 April 2004) Pete and Ronnie ride again It looks like Pete Townshend and Ronnie Lane's album Rough Mix will be re-released in 5.1 surround sound. (Added 19 April 2004) All Too Beautiful Paolo Hewitt will be doing a reading from the forthcoming Marriott biography All Too Beautiful at Filthy McNastys in Amwell Street, London N1 (Nearest tube: Angel) on Sunday 21st March. Stables (Added 22 February 2004) Where the Action Is A new compilation put together by DJ and Small Faces fan is called Where the Action Is. This is a 2-CD set of classic Mod tracks from the 1960s including one disc of R&B and ska influences and one disc of British Mod tracks. In many cases, the track included is not the obvious one. In the case of the Small Faces, Crowley has chosen Eddie's Dreaming from the first Immediate album. An album that starts with the Ronnie Wood power chords of Leaving Here must be worth a listen! (Added 17 February 2004) Ronnie Lane Memorial Concert After the huge success of the Steve Marriott Memorial in 2001, April 8 2004 will see the Ronnie Lane Memorial at the Royal Albert Hall in London. (Updated 6 February 2004) Ian McLagan site now on-line A new official Ian McLagan site is now on-line at www.ianmclagan.com. This is more of a fans' site with plenty of opportunity to contribute. There is also more about the Bump Band than on macspages.com. (Added 18 January 2004) More plans from Sanctuary Records 2004 should see a raft of Small Faces and related releases from Sanctuary Records. The 35th Anniversary Edition of Ogden's Nutgone Flake appears to be on hold but there are plans for an Ogden's DVD that will include the superb Colour Me Pop Special where the whole of side two of the album was played "live." This will be well worth waiting for. The 35th Anniversary Edition of Ogden's Nutgone Flake could be revived without the additional tracks but with a BBC Radio Documentary about the album. This will include members of the band talking about the making of the album. More details when available (Added 17 January 2004) Latest Launderette trip Issue 24 of the fanzine Darlings of Wapping Wharf Launderette is now available. This includes pictures from the most recent Small Faces Convention. (Added 23 December 2003) Ronnie Lane is a smiling man Mike Heron's first solo album has recently been re-released. Originally released in 1971 by one of the founder members of the Incredible String Band, Smiling Men with Bad Reputations is an excellent solo effort. A host of guest artists includes Ronnie Lane as part of Tommy & the Bijoux (the other members being Pete Townshend and Keith Moon) on the track Warm Heart Pastry. Other guest artists on the album include Jimmy Page, Elton John and John Cale. (Added 13 December 2003) The Jones Gang close down Guildford Kenney Jones' new outfit The Jones Gang play the final night of the Guildford Civic on 4 January 2004. Also on the bill are Gary Brooker and Paul Jones. (Added 12 December 2003) Mac attack in 2004 Ian McLagan has announced a UK and Ireland tour for 2004 to promote a new CD by the Bump Band. Dates will be in April and May and will be available here as soon as they are confirmed. Dates are also planned for Europe and the USA. Rise & Shine is due to be released towards the end of February. Mac has also been working on a 4-CD boxed set of Faces material. Five Guys Walk into a Bar is due for release in May 2004. A new Mac Web site at www.ianmclagan.com should be available very soon. (Added 22 November 2003) Greg Ridley Room for Ravers was very sorry to learn of the death of Greg Ridley in hospital in Spain on the afternoon of 19 November. Greg teamed up with Steve Marriott, Peter Frampton and Jerry Shirley to form Humble Pie in 1969 having previously played in Spooky Tooth. Greg was in fine form in the unique Humble Pie line-up that played at the Steve Marriott Memorial in 2001 and appeared to be keen on undertaking more gigs when he played a superb set at the Ruskin Arms Small Faces Convention in September this year. This is a great loss to music. (Added 19 November 2003) Marriott Activity for 2004 The Steve Marriott double CD is expected from Sanctuary around April 2004 to coincide with the launch of the book by Paulo Hewitt and John Hellier. It is expected to have the same title - It's All Too Beautiful. The CD will include Steve Marriott's earliest material from Oliver through to the recordings with Peter Frampton that he was working on just before he died. More details when available. Also, Sanctuary is expected to release the complete Steve Marriott Memorial Concert on a 3CD set. One More for the Ol' Tosser is due early in 2004. A DVD of the event is also planned. (Added 13 November 2003) All Too Beautiful The long-awaited Steve Marriott biography written by Paulo Hewitt and John Hellier is due to be released on 15 March 2004. (Added 30 October 2003) The Mods The Mods who played at the Steve Marriott Memorial Concert in 2001 have a series of gigs lined up for late 2003. You can catch the band at The Boom Boom Club, situated in Sutton United Football Ground, Gander Green Lane Sutton on 18 October. Other forthcoming gigs are The Half Moon in Putney on 19 November and 31 December. (Added 5 October 2003) 60s Scene Fanzine Issue 19 now available featuring EasyPsych, a major feature about Lazy Sunday and a CD of interviews about the Small Faces' Lazy Sunday. (Added 20 September 2003) Weller Only Dreaming Long-time Small Faces fan Paul Weller rates I'm Only Dreaming as his favourite b-side of all time. A feature in September 2003 Record Collector where Weller discusses b-sides notes his personal top five b-sides and places the Itchycoo Park flip-side ahead of the Who's Circles and the Beatles' Rain. A version of Weller playing I'm Only Dreaming live is on the Steve Marriott Memorial Show CD. (Added 15 September 2003) Nice One! Nice One- The Comprehensive Guide to the Worldwide Vinyl Recordings of the Small Faces written by Dave Clark, Detlef Mittman and Klaus Witt is now available. This is a guide to the recordings of the Small Faces around the world. (Added 27 August 2003) Knees Up The Inaugural Knees Up and Marriott Tribute (Added 22 August 2003) Mojo working The September 2003 issue of Mojo has a long feature on the Small Faces with particular emphasis on their "psychedelic" days in Marlow. (Added 14 August 2003) Small Faces night As part of a season of Mod/1960s films the British Film Institute is showing a Small Faces' Night on 14 August. This includes the young Steve Marriott on film, Small Faces "videos" and culminates in the whole Colour Me Pop Ogden's special. Ogden's 35th Anniversary Sanctuary is releasing a 35th Anniversary edition of Ogden's Nut Gone Flake which will include both mono and stereo versions of the album as well as outtakes and unreleased versions. (Added 7 June 2003) Listen to Mac and Kenney One of the country's top double acts, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones have been interviewed on Gary Crowley's BBC Radio London show. (Added 6 June 2003) Mac and Kenney in HMV Mac and Kenney will be appearing at the HMV store in Oxford Street on 27 May at 6pm to sigh copies of The Ultimate Collection. (Added 13 May 2003) The Jones Gang Kenney Jones has changed the name of his band from Big Face to The Jones Gang. In addition, Gary Grainger has been replaced on guitar by Dave "Bucket" Colwell. Colwell was in Humble Pie 2000 and played in the house band at the Steve Marriott Memorial Event in 2001. Along with Robert Hart and Rick Wills he was in the 1990s line-up of Bad Company. The Jones Gang is planning to tour the US during June. (Added 8 May 2003) Acid Daze The June 2003 issue of Uncut magazine includes a free "psychedelic classic" CD. (Added 1 May 2003) Dateline Diamonds The Small Faces film appearance has just been released on DVD and video. (Added 2 April 2003) Small Faces Children's Charity CD Members of the Groping with a Stoker mailing list have put together a CD of Small Faces cover versions with the proceeds going to the Small Faces Children's Charity run by Kenney Jones. (Added 8 March 2003) Small Faces all in one May is the release date of a long-awaited Small Faces CD. For the first time ever, the CD includes tracks from the Decca and Immediate times. This was previously not possible due to contractual problems. The CD has been put together by Sanctuary with John Hellier of Darling of Wapping Wharf Launderette. Look out for advertising on television for this. There will be 25 tracks each from the Decca and the Immediate years with sleeve notes by Paulo Hewitt and, possibly, a track-by-track listing by Ian McLagan. (Added 1 March 2003) Mac attack To support the release of the new Bump Band album Rise and Shine in the summer, Mac will be touring in Europe and the US. In addition, the Faces 4 CD box set Five Guys Walk Into A Bar... containing every A side and B side, plus many live and radio performances and umpteen unheard tracks, will be released in June. The Bump Band live DVD is now available

This is a part of series that supports a new TV series that runs on Friday nights from 21st February called S.O.U.L. (Added 14 February 2003) Very Nice indeed While waiting for Paolo Hewitt and John Hellier's forthcoming biography of Steve Marriott worth reading is Helter Skelter Publishing's recent book on the Nice, formed as PP Arnold's backing band and later one of the major influences on progressive rock. (Added 12 February 2003) Kenney in Guildford Kenney Jones' new band Big Face is making is debut appearance at Guildford Civic Hall on 1 March 2003. Alongside Kenney are Rick Wills on bass, Gary Grainger on guitar and Robert Hart on vocals. (Added 12 February 2003) The Two Ronnies The 2Ronnies is a new band playing covers of songs by Ronnie Wood and Ronnie Lane. This includes songs by the Small Faces (Rene, Lazy Sunday, All or Nothing, Grow Your Own, My Mind's Eye and Sha La La La Lee), Slim Chance, Faces and The Rolling Stones.
