Ian McLagan 1945-2014

We are sad to hear about the sudden death of Ian McLagan. As keyboard player with the Small Faces and the Faces we played on some amazing tracks in the 1960s and 1970s and has released a number of solo albums and toured with the Bump Band right up to today. He will be greatly missed but look at what he has left us. Mac had been admitted to hospital in Austin, Texas, following a massive stroke. Mac had been due to tour with Nick Lowe.

Majik Mijits

New from Wapping Wharf is a 2CD remastered Majik Mijits. Originally recorded by Steve Marriott and Ronnie Lane in 1981, the project was shelved as Ronnie's ill health meant they were unable to tour. The 2CD set includes the original album with a CD of alternative versions and three tracks recorded live at The Bridgehouse with two Small Faces classic.

New Album from Mac

United States is a new album from Ian McLagan & the Bump Band. This is his first new studio release since 2008's Never Say Never. Mac is playing a series of dates in the US, UK and Ireland in support of the album release.

Greatest Hits - The Immediate Years

Hot on the heels of the boxed set is a single CD (as the first CD of the boxed set) containing Small Faces worldwide A and B sides from the Immediate Years. This is the best sound quality that has been available for these classic tracks.

Mojo March 2014

The latest edition of Mojo includes a major feature on the Small Faces as well as a CD of Immediate tracks called Small Faces & Friends. Alongside two Small Faces tracks and PP Arnold's (If You Think You're) Groovy the CD includes a cover of Green Circles by Twice as Much.

Small Faces Box Set

A Small Faces box set is due in January 2014. The four CD set has been overseen by Kenney Jones and Ian McLagan. It will include remastered singles and b-sides, rare and previously unreleased songs, alternate takes and live recordings as well as an alternate US stereo mix of Ogden's Nut Gone Flake. A hardback book will include notes by Mark Paytrees as well as unreleased photos, new and archive interviews and promotional materials. There will also be a reproduction 7" Immediate Records acetate, a red, white & blue "45" and a certificate signed by Kenney and Mac.

Circles The Mod 45s Box 1965-1967

The Small Faces' Own Up Time is included on a new boxed set of six 7" vinyl singles. These are reproduced with original labels in replica bags. The Small Faces track is backed with Jimmy Winston & the Reflections' Sorry She's Mine.

New Steve Marriott CD

New from Wapping Wharf is a 2CD Steve Marriott set including his first and final recordings. I Need Your Love (Like a Fish Needs a Raincoat) includes the final recordings with Peter Frampton and Steve's pre-Small Faces material. Essential for any Small Faces or Steve Marriott fan.

Also available, Give All She's Got is a limited edition blue vinyl LP with Steve's pre-Small Faces tracks. Many of these versions are previously unreleased.

Rockpalast

Ronnie Lane's appearance on German TV's Rockpalast on 19 March 1980 is to be made available on CD and DVD. The band including Slim Chance stalwarts as well as the sixth Rolling Stone Ian Stewart on piano.

One for the Road

The full un-edited DVD of the Ronnie Lane Memorial Concert in 2004 is now available as a 3-CD set. This is the whole show from the wonderful evening in April 2004. Guests included Paul Weller, Mick Jones, Pete Townshend, Slim Chance, Steve Ellis, Glen Matlock, Sam Brown, Dennis Greaves, Steve Diggle, Small World, 17 Black, Deborah Bonham, The Jones Gang. Chris Jagger, Ronnie Wood, Mollie Marriott, Keith Smart, Chris Farlowe and Clem Clempson.

Small Faces Albums to Be Released in "Deluxe" Format

All of the Small Faces' studio albums are due to be reissued in deluxe format starting 7 May 2012. The new releases will include outtakes and alternative versions of songs as well as the original album. . The reissues have been overseen by Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones. All related non-album singles and alternate versions of the album session recordings, many of which are previously unreleased or released for the first time on CD, are included. These are all 2CD sets except Ogden's Nut Gone Flake which comprises 3 CDs with mono and stereo versions of the original album and a further CD of bonus tracks. The latter includes instrumentals, alternate US mixes, early session versions and the previously unreleased backing track Kamikhazi.

CD booklets include rare photographs and memorabilia and have liner notes by Mojo's Mark Paytrees including new interviews with Mac and Kenney.

To mark the reissues, Itchycoo Park and Tin Soldier are being reissued as limited edition 7" vinyl singles in pictures sleeves with a limited edition picture postcard on 21 April 2012.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

The Small Faces and The Faces are to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. This will take place on 14 April in Cleveland's Public Hall.

Small Faces Boxed Set

With the takeover of the complete Small Faces back catalogue by Universal there is now an opportunity for the definite Small Faces boxed set. With the co-operation of Mac and Kenney there is a chance that the boxed set will be released late in 2011 or early in 2012. It looks like the "semi-mythical" Small Faces versions of Be My Baby, If You Think You're Groovy and Love is Here and Now You're Gone will finally be released. There will be outtakes and songs-in-progress to show a different side to the Small Faces in the studio.

Steve Marriott Live DVDs

Two new live DVDs are available from Steve Marriott. All or Nothing Live in London is a repackaging of a 1985 Packet of Three gig originally available on video as Tin Soldier. This is superb and shows packet of Three at its best. Blind Drunk is a 1978 Bridge House concert with guests Joe Brown and Chas & Dave. The latter DVD also includes a 1985 Packet of Three concert.
