The Equals were noted for the fact that they included both black and white musicians but this should not obscure that they were a great group to come out of South London with a string of catchy hit singles. They were also unusual in having a three guitar line-up but no bass. Derv and Lincoln Gordon were brothers.

Baby Come Back was the group's only number 1 single in 1966.
