Vocals- David "Lord" Sutch, Guitar - Scratch & Scrape Bailey, Hopping Ken, Bass - Rupert Pain, Piano - Freddie Fingers, Drums - Little Slasher Carlo, Leo the Flea
Before his move into politics as leader of the Official Monster Raving Looney Party, David "Lord" Sutch fronted one of the more unusual acts of the 1960s. The early line-up would dress in leopard skins and carry Sutch on stage in a coffin.
There were a number of personnel changes in the group. Carlo Little was a stalwart on drums and, accidentally, became a mentor to the young Keith Moon. Ritchie Blackmore joined on guitar while Matthew Fisher, later of Procol Harum, and Paul Nicholas also served time.
Sutch formed the National Teenage Party in 1965 and stood for election in Stratford-Upon-Avon, losing his deposit.
Ritchie Blackmore had previously played guitar with The Outlaws and Neil Christian & the Crusaders and had already developed a reputation as an extremely versatile guitarist. He was replaced in Neil Christian & the Crusaders by Jimmy Page (later of the Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin). He left the band in 1966.
David Sutch died on 16 June 1999.
