Art was formed in 1967 when the VIPs changed their name. The VIPs had already released three singles on the Island label. The Art released a cover version of Buffalo Springfield's For What It's Worth which was renamed What's That Sound. The band released one of the first albums on the Island label with Supernatural Fairy Tales, a classic of English psychedelia. They then evolved into Spooky Tooth towards the end of 1967.

What's That Sound was reissued in 1975 with a different b-side.
