The Studio
The Incredible String Band’s second album, 5000 Spirits or the Layers of the Onion, is widely recognised as a cultural milestone in psychedelic folk music. To celebrate its 50th anniversary
Classic Album Sundays present an intimate album listening experience. Classic Album Sundays founder and BBC Radio host Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy will discuss the making of the album and its legacy with special guests Mike Heron of the Incredible String Band and the album’s producer Joe Boyd.
This will be followed by an uninterrupted playback of the album on vinyl on a state-of-the-art audiophile sound system so that listeners can hear details in the recording they have never heard before. The event will conclude with a Q&A.
